MICHAELS' STORY

Michael began developing his skills on the acoustic guitar when he left Minneapolis to move to the Santa Cruz mountains in California in the early 1990's. His ears were opened to a whole new world of musical appreciation when he began learning his craft from some of the best acoustic guitarists of that time.

Once he had began to truly develope his craft of tone intervention, he began experimenting with altered tunings. He brought that knowledge back to his home of Minneapolis in 1996, recording his first solo release " Citizen From The Land Of Dreams". He quickly developed a huge fan base with the melodic soundscapes he had developed while in California, and many local artists took note of his ability to feel the rhythm of the planet while painting in sonic colors.

A twist of fate had befallen Michael soon after the release of his first solo album. He had to undergo 5 weeks of intense radiation therapy due to a tumor that developed without warning, and the dedicated life to music had become more of a focus than ever.

In 2003, Michael underwent a Laryngectomy/ Glossectomy for another tumor that left him permanently unable to speak. Not one to quit pursuing his craft, he focussed even more on the sound in the music, and created an acoustic album of vivid musical dialog. You can almost hear the words,"don't give up" in the melodies. Entitled "Silent Victory", this CD represents the overcoming of tremendous obstacles and appreciating the true gifts of life.

Michael has just completed his third CD "Parrish Skies" and while continuing his love for acoustic guitar, on this offering he has added both his electric and electric slide guitars accompanied by a group of world class musicians.
